Kendall Jenner & Gigi Hadid are gettin’ all sorts of artsy for W Magazine’s 10th anniversary art issue, but we kinda sorta just don’t really get it…?
What do animal noses, missing kneecaps and human paintbrushes all have in common? Absolutely NOTHING, because ART.
In what may go down as one of their most bizarre photo shoots to date, BFFs Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid recently posed for W Magazine’s 10th anniversary “Art Issue” titled Placebo Pets. The dynamic duo is seen posing in many different outfits holding pets, while also looking like pets.
Their animal ears and matching noses are very noticeably photo-shopped to fit the theme of the issue, so if you’re just as confused as we are, maybe this will help clear a few things up. In the photos posted to W’s Instagram, the captions read QUOTE, “@KendallJenner and @GigiHadid are super-friendly, highly adaptive domesticated animals in a humanoid zoo” and another caption reveals that they are humanoid creatures ‘plugged-in to the future.’
Still at a loss? Good, because there’s also a video to go along with the art of confusion…
Ok, so we’re getting a little warmer here. In the clip, Kendall recreates four iconic performance art pieces, including Yoko Ono’s cut piece, Yves Klein’s human paint brush, Murakami Saburo’s performance breaking through sheets of paper and Marina Abromavic and Ulay’s “Relation in Time”.
As if this spread already didn’t raise enough eyebrows, another thing that was noticeably ‘off-putting’ was what some may call a Photoshop fail. In the photo featuring Kendall and Gigi holding puppies, their kneecaps are both missing… because, who needs two kneecaps when you can just have one, amirightttt?!
It’s still a mystery whether or not the shaved kneecaps were intentional or not, but again, we’re not questioning it, because ART. So if you’ve had enough weirdness for one day, I want to hear all your thoughts on Kendall and Gigi’s new W Mag spread, so get to talking right down here in the comments and after that, you can click right over here to check out all the glory that is ‘90s hairstyles, because we’ve alllll been there. Thanks for hangin’, I’m your girl Joslyn Davis and I’ll see ya later.
