The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show may not have allowed models with giant hip tattoos, but V Magazine seems to fully embrace the trend.
New year, new ink for Kendall Jenner! Ok, so it may not be a ‘real’ tattoo on Kendall’s bare hip, but it IS pretty bad-ass, ‘ve gotta admit. The supermodel was just one of six women flaunting fake ink on the multiple covers of V Magazine’s January 2017 issue, including Joan Smalls, Amber Valetta, Lara Stone, Ellen Rosa and Carolyn Murphy.
Each unique cover, shot by famed fashion photographer Mario Testino, embodies the theme regarding “eternalness of tattoos in an industry known for constant change” and chronicles the choices each of the cover girls have made in their lives that reflect a personal rebelliousness.
Kendall is seen striking a pose in a black and white off-the-shoulder top and barely-there underwear pulled up to show the full effect of the snake tattoo taking up her entire upper thigh. She revealed to the magazine about her different rebellious phases in the industry, also noting that OG bad girl Rihanna is the QUEEN of rebels, saying QUOTE, “She manages to pull everything off. She can do no fashion wrong!”
Another one of Kendall’s notable rebellious moments include her nipple piercing, when she revealed back in 2015 that QUOTE, “I was going through a period in my life, having a rough time, being a rebel and was like ‘Let’s just do it.’” As for the snake and what it represents, many have speculated that it could be referring to the emoji trend that Kim K. started alluding to the whole Taylor Swift fiasco, or she could be following the trend Kylie and Kris Jenner set after holding a giant anaconda while posing for her calendar.
But if you wanna get real technical, according to my very accurate findings (on Wikipedia, that is) the historical meaning of a snake represents fertility and creative life forces. As a snake sheds its skin, it is a symbol of rebirth, transformation immortality and healing.
Sounds pretty legit to me, but now I’m curious to know what you guys think about Kendall’s newest magazine spread, and what you think the snake symbolizes, so get to talking right down here in the comments and after that you can click right here to check out Joslyn and Ryland try their hand at Parkour on an all new Beauty Trippin.
